About the VA-412 and VA-614
The Panasonic VA412 and VA614 were among the first Panasonic Key Telephone Systems introduced.
These phone systems was were marketed in the late 1980's, and featurewise are identical. The only difference between the two is the ultimate size of the systems. The VA-412 has a maximum capacity of 4 outside lines and 12 phones, while the VA-614 has a maximum of up to 6 lines and 14 telephones. All expansion cards listed below are compatible with either system. The telephones are identical except for the number of outside line buttons, and are fully cross compatible.
Three models of phone were made for these systems. The VA-41220 and VA-61420 are "standard" phones. These phones have 4 or 6 line buttons, speed dial and hold buttons as well as a speaker which can be used for monitoring a call or receiving pages. The second phone available is a "speaker" phone, (part# VA-41221 or VA61421 ). These phones have all of the features of the standard phones, with the addition of a microphone. With these phone, you can talk hands free to outside callers and internal callers via the intercom. The third phone available is an LCD speakerphone (part# VA41222 or VA-61422) which has all of the features of the speakerphone PLUS the addition of an LCD display. The display shows time, number dialed etc. The LCD speakerphone is required to program the phone system.
The VA-412 control unit (part# VA-41210 ) is initially configured to power up to 2 telephone lines and 4 telephones. The VA-614 control unit (part# VA-61410 ) is initially configured to power up to 2 telephone lines and 4 telephones.
These systems can be expanded to their maximum capacities of 4 or 6 outside lines with the addition of 2 port outside line cards (part# VA-20844) (2 lines per card)
To increase the number of phones on these systems, a 2 station expansion card (part# VA-20842 ) is installed. Each card adds the ability to install 2 phones, up to the system maximum.
