About the KX-TD500

The Panasonic KX-T500 is a digital phone system that was marketed from 1997 through 2005.

This system replaced the KX-T336, Panasonic's first entry into the PBX market. The KX-T500 has an ultimate capacity of 500 ports, which are realized with the addition of expansion cabinets and cards. Most of the cards in the KX-T336 will migrate to the KX-TD500, though some may require a modification to make them " KX-TD500 compatible ".

The KX-TD500 Control Unit (part# KX-TD500) is a 14 slot cabinet which contains a CPU card (part# KX-TD500101 ) and a Time Switch card (part# KX-TD500102 ). Twelve slots are available to install outside line, station and other support cards. Up to two Expansion Cabinets (part# KX-TD520 ) can be installed on top of the main cabinet to provide additional capacity. Each of the expansion cabinets contains 14 universal slots.

Many support cards are available for this system. Outside lines are connected to "Trunk" cards. KX-TD50180 is an 8 port, loop start card. KX-TD50290 is a 23 port, PRI card. The KX-T96182 is a 4 port "Direct Inward Dial" card (DID). A T-1 circuit which allows up to 24 outside lines is connected via a T-1 card (part# KX-T96187 ).

To connect telephones, 3 station cards are available. Each of these cards allows for the connection of up to 16 telephones. The KX-TD50172 is a "Proprietary" extension card which is used for Panasonic multi-line digital phones. The KX-TD50175 card allows the connection of single line telephones with the ability to light message lamps and is typically used in hotel / motel applications. The last station card option, the KX-TD50170 is a "Hybrid" extension card. With this card, either 8 digital and or 8 single line telephones can be connected.
